San Francisco Cable Car

San Francisco – USA Trip Day 1

San Francisco’s got an energy all its own. The LGBTQ+ culture here is vibrant and everywhere – rainbow flags flutter proudly all over the city, and it feels like the whole city is celebrating it every single day. I love all these Victorian houses on the street; I just couldn’t stop taking photos of them. If you are a dog lover like me, you might trip over your own feet staring at all the cute dogs cos there are just too many of them 🙂

Some of the spots I like in SF

Dolores Park

Grassy hill, local brew in hand, with the entire SF skyline as your backdrop, what can you ask for more?
Pro tip: Swing by Bi-Rite Creamery nearby. Their sesame ice cream is a game-changer!!

The Castro

Welcome to the heart of SF’s LGBTQ+ scene. The Castro isn’t just a neighbourhood; it’s an experience. Rainbow crosswalks and lively bars, just stroll around and take it in. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or not, the welcoming vibe here is infectious.

Cable Car Turnaround on Powell Street

This is peak San Francisco right here. Watching these iconic cable cars do their turnaround dance is oddly mesmerising. And riding one? A must-do SF experience. You can hop on to Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, or Nob Hill. I rode to Fisherman’s Wharf and felt like I was in a movie the whole time.

Powell & Pine St Intersection

An insider tip: head to the intersection of Powell and Pine Streets. You’ll see cable cars chugging up and down the hill, and it’s the perfect place to snap that classic SF photo.

Sea Lion Viewing Area at Pier 39

Imagine a bunch of sea lions just lounging on floating docks, sunbathing like they’re at a resort. That’s Pier 39 for you. It’s cute, slightly smelly, and totally worth seeing.

Palace of Fine Arts

It really feels like you are in ancient Rome. The Palace of Fine Arts is seriously impressive – massive columns and a beautiful dome, all surrounded by a serene lagoon. They host all kinds of performances here, so check out what’s on. Even if there’s no show, the architecture alone is worth the trip.

Golden Gate Bridge

I know it’s on every SF postcard ever, but seeing the Golden Gate Bridge up close hits different. Take a boat trip to really appreciate its massive scale. When you’re right there under those huge red towers, with fog rolling in? That’s a proper “wow” moment.

I want to give a shoutout to our hotel’s cat, Cereal – he took care of us during our stay there 🙂
(In case you wanna know, we stayed at Golden Gate Hotel)
